Athiri’s Holistic Organizing Programs

We cannot heal the world until we commit to healing ourselves, and we cannot heal ourselves until we commit to healing the world. Our school-without-walls specializes in a holistic approach to organizing. Each program interconnects to create a cycle of growth that turns personal power into collective power.

• Healing Programs: Through clinical therapy we address trauma to ensure our community copes with harm in productive ways. Personal healing is key to movement work because healing is the atmosphere for change.

• Learning Programs: We provide intellectual and tactical tools for liberation through political and popular education. Our classes bridge the gap between historical movement wisdom and modern-day civic strategy to explore the power of people and the science of politics.

• Building Programs: We apply our skills, passions, and theory to the real world, launching and supporting community campaigns for change.

The Athiri Kinship

The centerpiece of our organization is the Athiri Kinship where we integrate mental health support, political education, and leadership development for a summer cohort. Unlike a traditional fellowship where learning and opportunity are temporary, the Athiri Kinship creates familial and communial bonds that are lifelong. We use popular education, where people’s strengths are centered, to build collective power and create social, political, and economic change.
